What is a Day Visit?
A day visit takes place on-site – typically wherever your horse is kept – and can vary in duration from a couple of hours to an entire day. We will discuss your availability and what is best for you and your horse when you first contact us to book a session.
What are they for?
A day visit may be requested to deal with a specific issue directly – especially in cases where having someone there to see the behaviour in person is beneficial. This could be anything from trouble loading to jump refusals.
It may also be a good idea to opt for a day visit if you lack confidence and would appreciate having someone there to step in or offer friendly instruction, or just for reassurance. For instance, if you are a very nervous rider or have a new horse, we can help you with confidence-building exercises.
You can also arrange a day visit as a fun and useful training day. You can learn more about Combination Horsemanship and how to use this very flexible approach in your specific situation. This is a great way to start to think about your horse’s perspective on the world if you’ve read a few of our articles and want to see how Combination Horsemanship applies to you.
In addition, we offer Empathy Training Classes. These are a lot of fun and can give you a unique insight into how a horse’s mind works. If you decide you’d like to book one of these, we can arrange to do a group session with your friends, family or colleagues. They don’t need to know much about horses to join in but they do need a good sense of humour!
Day visits are charged at £35 per hour, with discounts available for long term projects. We will normally require a two-hour minimum booking for the first session unless it is for a lesson. There are no travel charges for clients located in and around London and the home counties – if you are further afield we may also charge travel expenses as appropriate.
Empathy Training Classes are priced according to location and attendance. Please contact us to discuss this service further if you are interested in hosting a class.
